It has everything you’d want if you had a dream local seafood restaurant in mind. The views, the taste, and the reasonable bill.
El Cotillo stands out in comparison with places like Corralejo because it has been completely spared from mass tourism and holiday resorts. The town really has a local feel, with traditional white fishermen’s houses and a beautiful old harbor in the middle of it. Take your time to stroll around the tiny alleys, discover the local and artistic shops in the city center. Moreover, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants surrounding the harbor, that make for a perfect break at the end of the day.
We know, we already presented some of the most iconic beaches in el Cotillo, but we think that playa de Esquinzo is in a category of its own. Indeed, its one of the crowd’s favorite for enjoying the sunset, and going surfing, and there are many reasons why. It is simply one of the most stunning beach of the island, surrounded by high black cliffs, a yellow sand beach and the feeling of being at the end of the world. To reach the beach, you’ll need to go for a 15 min car ride on the dirt road that starts at the northern end of El Cotillo. Once you get there you’ll need to be careful when going down to the beach as the hiking path can be slippery and a bit treacherous (especially carrying surfboard).
Discover the mythical North track Fuerteventura by foot, by bike, or by car. It is a dirt track that runs along the entire north shore of the island and connecting El Cotillo to Corralejo. Along the way you will find stunning remote beaches, Volcanoes to hike to, the best surf spots in Fuerteventura and an overall feeling of wilderness and adventure. We recommend particularly Punta Gorda,Pop Corn Beach,Majanicho Village and el Hierro. Now it is up to you to find the place to which you will feel the most connection.
We cannot recommend enough the chiringuito (beach bar) that sits on Playa de La Concha, Cotillo. Nothing fancy here, just what we want, a beautiful location, good seafood and tapas, and all your classic beverages. It is so simple and yet so special, we cannot recommend enough La Concha Beach Bar.
There is a small sandy access on the left of the beach, that’s the only place you should use, especially if you don’t have shoes. Above all, families or your group of friends will love the surf vibes and relaxed atmosphere at the beach, where people chill and have good time together.
